Seems the previous clue was no challenge for you guys, so let's see if I can make this one a bit more interesting. You're going to work a little bit of math to get this one. The next clue is ciphered and I've used a simple substitution cipher, based on a number (called the key), to write it.
So you understand what this means, here is an example: suppose you know the key to your cipher is 4, then you would substitute the letter A by the fourth letter in the alphabet, D, the letter B by the fifth letter, E, the C by the sixth letter, F, and so on and so forth. So, instead of HELLO, you would write KHOOR. If it helps, you can tell me how you would write GOODBYE in this cipher in a comment, and I'll tell you whether it's fine.
Now, for the actual clue: GUR PBHAGEL JURER V JNF OBEA VF N ERCHOYVP. And to get the key to the cipher: multiple the amount of divisors the number 120 has by the tenth smallest prime number, now add the digits of the result and use that as your key.
Good luck, hopefully you'll get it as fast as the previous one.
ResponderEliminarNo, no, no, I told you guys, no explanations in class. But I'll help you a bit here.
EliminarThere's nothing there that you don't know how to do, I've taught you ow to do it. Start by figuring out these two things:
1. How many divisors does 120 have?
2. Which is the 10th smallest prime number?
Ok, now you need to multiply those two numbers and add the digits of the result, that'd be the key.
Eliminarsi profe pero lo que no entiendo es la parte de : and add the digits of the result.
ResponderEliminarOk, digits is the same in English and Spanish. So, keeping that in mind, suppose your number is 245, its digits are: 2, 4 and 5, so adding them gives you: 2+4+5=11.
ResponderEliminarGot it?
ResponderEliminarWell, not exactly. If the key is 14, then I shifted the alphabet by substituting the A by the 14th letter, the B by the 15th and so on... So you need to write down how I change the letters and change them back.
Eliminaraah vale...muchas gracias profe , ya entendí
ResponderEliminarProfe ya se la frase , es : THE COUNTRY WHERE Y WAS BORN IS A REPUBLIC
ResponderEliminarEspero que sea esa :)
Very good Pierina. So all you need to do now is tell me which countries are still candidates and then I'll be able to give you guys the next clue.
ResponderEliminarExactly. Now to wait for next week's clue...
